The Effects of Sudden Events on People’s Lives
Have you ever witnessed an event that has forever changed your life or the life of someone you know? This could cause you to have a positive or negative change in your life. In the story “A Christmas Carol Scrooge and Marley”, “At the Crossroads” and “Profile; Malala Yousafanzi”, Scrooge, Nick Kleckner, and Malala undergo a major change as the result of sudden events in their lives.

In the play, “A Christmas Carol Scrooge and Marley”, the character of Scrooge undergoes a change that transforms him from a cruel miser to a joyful, generous individual as a result of visits from three spirits. The three spirits, the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, show Scrooge events from his life that causes him to realize that making changes in his life will positively affect him and others around him. “Spirit! Hear me! I am not the man I was. I will not be the man I would have been but for this intercourse. Why show me this if I am past all hope?” This shows Scrooge realizing that being generous and caring to his family and co-workers leads to a meaningful life.

In the story, “At the Crossroads,” Nick Kleckner changes form not understanding the point of life, to realizing mankind is more amazing than he thought. Nick Kleckner went on a 2,500 mile walk across the country and was taken care of by strangers, causing him to change his outlook on life and the people around him. “The biggest takeaway from this experience is to have realized that mankind is better than I ever dreamed.” This shows that Nick changes his outlook on life, by the generosity of kind strangers.

In the article “Profile: Malala Yousafanzi,” Malala starts as an unknown Pakistani school girl but through events such as getting shot in the head she becomes a Nobel Prize winner and an activist for issues throughout her community. Malala spoke and wrote about the issues in her community under the rule of the Taliban, causing her to get shot in the head. This led her to get noticed by people around the world. “Since then she has been shot in the head by the militants and has become the youngest person ever to win the Nobel Peace Prize.” This shows that Malala continues to be an activist for children’s peace around the world and speaks about what she believes in.

In conclusion important events tend to cause a change in one’s mindset. These events usually lead to a more positive mindset. And a better life for the person affected.

Week 4: Free Choice- Fall!

Fall is my favorite season. One reason it’s my favorite is the weather. Where I live it’s not to hot and it’s not to cold. It’s about perfect. I enjoy fall because the trees get really pretty. The leaves on the trees turn different shades of red and orange, which is very pretty, and then they fall on the ground. I also like the holidays in fall. I enjoy Halloween because we decorate pumpkins and I enjoy thanksgiving because we get an extra day or two off of school, and I enjoy being with my family. This is why fall is my favorite season. What’s yours?

Extraordinary Ohio

If you where to visit Ohio, here are three places that I recommend you to visit.

The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium- I would recommend visiting the Columbus Zoo for the following reasons. One reason is that there are many animals to see. The zoo has over 9,000 animals according to “www.experiencecolumbus.com”. The zoo also has a waterpark right next to it, called Zoombezi Bay. The zoo also has an aquarium inside of it. The aquarium includes Manatees, Stingrays, and more!

Cosi- I recommend you to visit Cosi if you visit Ohio. Cosi  is also located in Columbus, so you could visit it and the zoo in the same day or trip. I recommend Cosi because there’s so many things to do there. They have exhibits on things like the ocean, space, and energy. All the exhibits are very interactive to, so you can have fun and learn too.

Kings Island- I recommend visiting Kings Island. Kings Island is located in Mason, Ohio. The park has 12 rollercoasters and many more rides. The park also has a water park that you could visit. There’s also many places to eat and get snacks in and around the park.

How to write a good comment!

The first step to writing a good comment is to compliment the writer. Say something you like about their blog or post. Don’t say something mean or rude about the authors work. They worked hard on their post. You could also add something constructive to it, like nicely stating something they could fix. After this you might want to add some facts to your comment, if you know something about the subject that the author didn’t write about and might not know. Next you should make a connection with the author. If you’ve had a similar experience or similar feelings on a subject say something about it! This could start a conversation between you and the author and you might learn something new about the author or the subject. You also might want to end your comment with a question. If you don’t know much about the subject or the author doesn’t talk about your question, don’t be afraid to ask them about it. The most important step is to proofread your comment, because once you post it you can’t change or edit it. One last thing I would like to add to this is how to comment and my comment guidelines. On my blog all you have to is click on a post and scroll to the bottom. There should be a box that says “leave a comment”. My guidelines for commenting are simple. As long as your comment is not rude or unnecessary I’m fine with it. If your comment is rude or unnecessary it will be deleted.
